What Is A Heat Pump?
A heat pump is a device that transfers heat from one area to another. It can be used to heat or cool a space (bi-directionally), depending on the needs of the customer. Heat pumps work by using a refrigerant to transfer heat from the surrounding air, water, or ground into the house to keep it cool or warm depending on the season.
How Does A Heat Pump Work?
There are many benefits to using a heat pump over other heating and cooling methods.
For example, they are much more energy efficient than traditional HVAC systems because they don’t rely on combustion to generate warmth (they use a refrigerant to absorb and release hot or cold energy). The hot refrigerant then flows through coils in the evaporator, where it absorbs heat from the surrounding air. This cooled air is then circulated back into the space that needs to be heated or cooled.
This means that they produce very little carbon emissions, making them an environmentally friendly option. Additionally, because they don’t use any fuel sources (like natural gas or oil) there are no associated costs with running a heat pump – making them very budget-friendly!
